Every pound secured wasn't just money, but a lifeline, a message of hope, prevention of worse possibilities. 2024 was a year of monumental achievements for Accommodation Concern. We shattered records, bringing in an unprecedented £368,000 in financial gains for our clients in July alone, followed by another peak in September with a further £373,000 including debt managed and written off. Celebrating each time, we did wonder if our end-of-year goal was audacious - to surpass £4 million. Despite the festive season's challenges, we did it! Our total for 2024 reached a staggering £4,069,000, nearly doubling last year's record of £2,039,000. This success story is not just about numbers; it's about real people gaining the chance to live with hope and security.
Throughout the year, we distributed 693 food parcels, helping those without to nourish themselves, while our 488 charity applications, including supermarket and energy vouchers given, resulted in £111,572.99 in support value. We tackled £1,099,287.34 in debt, providing relief where it was most needed. But our efforts extended beyond finances; we supported 2,828 individuals through 5,052 issues, offered our supported housing to 62 people, and helped 22 people transition into independent living. Our work in claiming £2,702,606.94 in benefits for clients highlights our commitment to empower and uplift with expert advice and advocacy.
If you're enthusiastic about our cause, join us for an eye-opening event. On the 21st of February, in partnership with Wicksteed Park, we’re hosting a sponsored sleepout. This event isn't just about raising funds; it's about understanding the plight of those we serve. Starting with a quiz at 8pm (all welcome, sleeping out or not), then experience sleeping out from 11pm to the morning, all to raise awareness and funds. Sign up now at bit.ly/acsleepout25, share your plans with your friends and family, and you might be surprised by the support you garner, just as we were by our own records this year.
