Salary £36,000 - £40,000 FTE (Actual: £21,600 - £24,000, depending on experience and qualifications)
Holiday entitlement 25 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays for full time

Are you a financial professional with a passion for the not-for-profit sector? We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our Senior Management Team and play a crucial role in overseeing the financial health of our charity. This part-time position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a flexible, hybrid working environment.

About the Role

As our Finance Manager, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with the CEO to create and monitor annual budgets, ensuring financial compliance and presenting reports to the Board of Trustees.
  • Coordinate year-end audits, prepare financial reports, and recommend improvements to financial systems.
  • Supervise our Accounts Clerk, oversee payroll processing, and manage key financial relationships with funders, bankers, and auditors.
  • Provide essential financial data for funding applications and fulfill reporting requirements for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and produce annual budgets and monitor expenditures to ensure budgetary compliance.
  • Generate monthly/quarterly management accounts and present these to the Board of Trustees.
  • Act as a signatory for payments and manage payroll, including liaising with external payroll providers.
  • Maintain accurate records of bank accounts, employee pension contributions, and oversee banking matters.
  • Advise on financial control measures to protect assets and support the charity's strategic goals.

About You

To succeed in this role, you should have:
  • A professional accounting qualification (minimum part-qualified).
  • Strong experience in financial management, preferably within the voluntary sector.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (ideally QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
  • A sound understanding of VAT, bank reconciliation, and end-of-year account processes.
  • Leadership qualities, including adaptability, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to best practices in financial management.
